Remote Wiping

One unique and very useful feature of WipeDrive Enterprise is Remote Wiping.  From a computer or server a technician can remotely wipe any computer that he can access.  We are amazed at how many different ways our customers have used this feature

Uses

A large pharmaceutical company wanted the ability to wipe any computer that becomes lost or stolen from their premises.  They already had a remote login tool to access the missing computer or laptop if it was switched on, so it was very easy for them to have the network look for lost or stolen computers and as soon as they were turned on WipeDrive began securely erasing the hard drive.

A large bank had several server sites throughout the US and needed the ability to securely overwrite these hard drives remotely.  These servers were headless servers and the CD/USB bootable media could not be used on the servers.  WipeDrive was provided as a remote wiping tool that allowed the US-based bank to easily wipe the server’s hard drives remotely and save the log file to a network accessible folder.

A drug store chain wanted to use Remote Wiping at their prescription counter.  After upgrading the counter with new hardware; the old hardware with very confidential medical records would be shipped to the data center for disposal or reallocation.  The company was at risk of that computer being lost or stolen in-transit with data still on it.  Using the Remote Wiping feature of WipeDrive, the data center would wipe the old computer remotely before it was shipped, thus safeguarding their customers confidential data.

Results

Remote Wiping provided an easy-to-use tool that protects client information and provides an exact audit trail of the overwrite performed and confirmation that the hard drive and data had been securely deleted.  This helped organizations in many different industries safeguard their information.
